Ghani: Johor losses because voters 'not rational'

your say Kimi: BN has been putting us through almost 45 years (discounting our forefathers' era) of irrational attitude and thinking. Finally there seems to be some rationality and fair-minded voting in Malaysia.

However, BN and its component parties are still stuck in the irrationality of a bygone era. Although BN has won a simple majority, there are many issues to be addressed, especially equal opportunity in education and job opportunities in the government sector.

An issue of extreme importance that needs immediate action is the current school education policy which was introduced by Education Minister Muhyiddin Yassin. He has actually created an unprecedented utter chaos in our school system.

I believe this needs immediate action by the incoming government. I sincerely hope the new education minister will seriously address these issues. Otherwise there is going to be a another backlash in the future.

Albertan98: When Johor BN chairperson Abdul Ghani Othman said, "Voting with emotion has caused polarisation to occur in Johor, especially in urban areas as shown in the results of 13th polls," what he said represented the Old Malaysia.

He belongs to the old generation that still does not get it that Malaysia is undergoing a major shift towards a non-race-based politics led by Anwar Ibrahim and young Malay Malaysians.

Even having to say ‘Malay Malaysian' is a term from the old race-based politics but we can't help not using it yet. There is no full acceptance of the concept of a ‘Malaysian' in the national mindset yet.

The day will come when the term ‘Malaysian' will mean exactly what an ‘American' means to all today, where your ethnicity does not matter.

It's the only rational way of thinking; all other opinions are too emotional. Still, Ghani lost, and it's all "fate"- lah . There is nothing the ruling party can do about such unpredictable and irrational voter behaviour.

You fell for it and your advisers are all indolent subjected to inertia. People like you, but not your continuance of not employing enough of Chinese and Indians in the Johor civil service.

Review the non-Malay statistics and you will see the truth hurts and this was translated into votes. We hope the new MB does not underestimate such acts of wisdom in genuine employment.

Save the naked truth that the Chinese and Indian entrepreneurs have been hurt in Johor for umpteen years.

Talk to the Chinese and Indian guilds. You had the media to your favour fully, so Gen X and Gen Y voters - they now have higher expectations of their leaders. Gone are the past of easy wins.

Voters are smart and look more to the present and future than the past. As an MB, voters expect the leader to be a champion of all Malaysians.

2LAN: The people voted you out because they are rational. They did some hard thinking and decided to support the party with better policies and not the person.

You are a good man but in the wrong party with too many unanswered questions relating to its many actions. So retire from politics, I am sure you will now be made chairperson of Felda or Sime Darby.
