MCA will hold its presidential council meeting in Kuala Lumpur this Saturday to discuss the party’s poor performance in the 13th general election and its next move.

The party’s secretary-general Kong Cho Ha said party members should not use the election results to launch attacks on individual leaders as this would further damage the party’s image and standing.

"I would like to remind MCA members that during this challenging time, MCA should avoid internal conflict lest the opposition uses the occasion to manufacture issues to further attack MCA," he added in a statement.

For the time being, he said, party members should remain calm and united as the party was wading through it most challenging time.

“I urge all MCA members to remain stoic, to persevere and await the decision of the MCA’s central leadership,” he said.

MCA’s performance in the May 5 general election plunged further as it only managed to cling on to seven parliamentary and 11 state seats, out of the total of 127 seats it contested.
