PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub turned up at the Kepong police station today to have his  statement recorded in relation to his presence at a candlelight vigil to protest the arrest of activist Adam Adli Abdul Halim last month.

NONE He said the investigating officer asked him 20 questions but, on the advice of his lawyer Zulhazmi Shariff, he had declined to provide any answers.

"The investigation concerns my speech outside the lock-up during the candlelight vigil (in Jinjang). They asked what happened, what I saw, what I said, and if I knew Adam," Salahuddin said later.

Four DAP leaders - Gobind Singh Deo, Dr Tan Seng Giaw, Ng Suee Lim and Ronnie Liu - who had attended the May 22 vigil to demand Adam's release have similarly been called to give their statements to the police.

They are being investigated under Section 141 of the Penal Code for allegedly participating in an illegal assembly.
