Yet another wild claim from Zahid
YOURSAY 'If what Zahid has said is factual, why are the ex-Emergency Ordinance detainees allowed to continue to mastermind more crimes?'
Zahid asked to explain why ex-detainees not charged
FellowMalaysian:
Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua stopped short of calling Ahmad Zahid Hamidi a liar when he accused the home minister of fabricating his "90 percent of organised crimes in Selangor were masterminded by ex-EO detainees".
What do you make of our home minister, one who is entrusted with the sacred duty to protect and ensure public safety, has not only been embroiled in an assault case but has also now been accused of lying in Parliament?
Just barely two months into the job, Zahid's reputation as home minister has gone kaput.
Odin: Indeed, if what Zahid has said is factual, why are the ex-detainees allowed to continue to mastermind more crimes? They should have been arrested and charged.
The answer is that those ex-detainees are paying off certain people in the police and government, or the police are unable to investigate well, or what he has claimed is only that - a mere claim.
Mayvbwell: Zahid, please first announce the three opposition leaders you claimed were involved in the Lahad Datu invasion as promised during the GE13.
It's already more than 60 days after GE13 and you have not fulfilled your promise. Where is your "janji ditepati"?
Perhaps you believe 51 percent of the rakyat are easily forgetful so you can keep talking without having to account for your promises?
Headhunter: Yet again, caught with another lie.
Stories: Remember not too long ago, Zahid swore he would go to Paris to defend PM Najib Razak's good name? And not too long after that, he refused to go , giving some lame excuses.
I am pretty sure after this parliamentary session is over, he will give more excuses.
Onyourtoes: Can't we get it? It was a false spring. Reform and liberalism tossed about before the election were just temporary measures to blunt the clamour for change. Now the election is over, it is time to play hardball again.
Tyrants and dictators will never change. They have to be brought down.
Look at the promises to reduce car prices and tolls; look at minimum wage and retirement age, look at tender awards and project monitoring, and now look at Sedition Act, Emergency Ordinance and Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC).
Onlooker: I feel just a wee bit sorry for Zahid. He's really being thrown to the wolves and not getting much support from higher-ups.
Oh I forgot, the Umno election is coming and he is a vice-president candidate, right? Oh dear.
Ibrahim Ali raps DAP for questioning Islamic subject
Versey: Why not Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali and those who so wish others to learn Islamic civilisation themselves go and study the subject to enhance themselves?
That will keep them busy engaging in activities that benefit all and earn some respect from everyone. It is definitely better than creating noise pollution as it is now.
Jessy43: The studying all ancient civilisations, the sociology of religion and how religions came into being should be made compulsory for all university students. How culture, economic and social environment affect the development of religion should be taught to broaden thinking.
FellowMalaysian: Questioning why Islamic Civilisation studies should be made compulsory is legitimate as our country's constitution ensured and enshrined freedom in religious practices and this includes seeking knowledge relating to religion.
We should leave Islamic Civilisation as an elective, an option offered to the students rather than making it a compulsory subject.
David Dass: DAP was not questioning the place of Islam under the constitution nor the issue is one of knowledge. The objection is imposing Islamic knowledge on non-Muslims.
If knowledge is the issue and the object is teaching all Malaysians about all religions then that will not be objectionable.
But this piecemeal attempt to advance Islam is clearly a breach of the constitution, which states in clear terms that all are equal under the law and freedom of worship is guaranteed.
Ipohcrite: Ibrahim Ali is trying to drag the Agong into the controversy.
The Islamic Civilisation subject can be taught anywhere but it should not be made compulsory in private universities. You just do not get to make a religious subject compulsory for others who are of a different religion.
Rude and disrespectful to the Agong? Who is Ibrahim Ali trying to kid? I think he himself is an affront to Islam and all right-thinking Muslims.
If anybody is rude and disrespectful to the Agong in this instance, it's Ibrahim Ali himself for trying to drag in the Agong to pursue his own personal agenda.
Paul Warren: I don't mind my kids being asked to study Islam or Islamic civilisation but it cannot just be based on the curriculum set by the government or any other local university.
I would want them to read alternative views of Islam as well. That way they will know all the various views expounded by all parties.
