Top executives of two government-linked companies have now been accused of having obtained fake degrees from universities that an opposition MP described as "degree mills".

NONE DAP's Serdang MP Ong Kian Ming, who made similar accusations against a couple of cabinet members in the past, made this claim today against two high-ranking board members.

Ong said the websites of the companies said one of them had obtained a doctorate from Warnborough University in the United Kingdom, while the other had obtained a Master's degree from Preston University in the United States.

Preston University is the same university that Ong previously accused Human Resources Minister Richard Riot of having obtained a fake Master's degree from, an allegation that Riot has denied .

Ong said he was disappointed with the government's lack of action against individuals that he has exposed thus far.

"In Pakistan, (an elected) representative found to have lied about their academic qualifications can be jailed up to three years," he said.

At the time of writing, both the GLCs' websites have removed the questionable academic credentials from the duo's profiles.

However, Ong had taken screen captures of the websites to back up his claim.

Malaysiakini is witholding the names of both the high-ranked GLC officials until they respond to the allegations.
