Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin today refuted the allegation made by his challenger, Syed Rosli Syed Harman Jamallulail, that he had abused the Youth and Sports Ministry machinery to campaign for Umno elections.

NONEHe said the allegation showed that Syed Rosli did not understand that Umno Youth could not be separated from the youths in general as most members of youth associations were also Umno Youth members.

"As the minister of youth and sports, I convene meetings with youth leaders on regular basis. Most of them are also Umno Youth members and delegates. 

"This allegation is not true because I meet with those youth leaders, who coincidently are Umno Youth members and delegates, to discuss current issues, which coincidently revolve around the delegates... so, more or less, I did explained to them about a few things related to the elections," he said.

Khairy said this in response to the allegation made by Syed Rosli at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur earlier today.

NONEKhairy said Syed Rosli (left), who is vying for Umno Youth chief post at the Umno election, should use other issue to campaign without having to defame other candidates.

On the 75 candidates vying for the Umno Youth executive council seats at the Umno Youth election next Saturday, Khairy said it proved that the movement was still relevant in bringing the government's aspiration to the people.

"Whatever it is, I want the delegates to choose the best candidates who are willing to serve the party at all times, not only during party elections," he added.
