Controversial BN MP Bung Mokhtar Radin once again caused a ruckus in Parliament today when he told an opposition MP to "balik kawasan" (return to the constituency).

The Kinabatangan MP stood up and called on PKR's Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh to "return to her constituency" when the latter, through a motion, had urged the government to declare emergency in Kuantan because of "floods up to the neck".

Surprisingly, her motion was supported by an empathetic looking Ghapur Salleh (BN-Kalabakan), but that wasn't enough to dissuade fellow Sabahan Bung Mokhtar from taking pot shots at Fuziah.

NONE "If (the flood) was in my area, I would be back in my area helping out," said Bung, interjecting when Fuziah ( left ) was relaying her request to Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia.

His remark did not go down well with other opposition MPs, with Fauzi Abdul Rahman (PKR-Indera Mahkota) telling the speaker that he is "ashamed" of being a parliamentarian if such indiscipline ruled the House.

Bung, who is no stranger to controversy, appeared unperturbed and continued interrupting Fuziah when she attempted to speak.

Pandikar admitted that the issue raised by Fuziah is serious, and immediately asked Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim to respond.

            

NONE Shahidan stood up and later explained that all emergency forces have been deployed to Kuantan and are on their way to the Pahang capital to alleviate the situation.

"I thank the minister for his response, albeit a little late. I hope there will be more co-operation in the future with MPs on matters like this, even if the MP is from the opposition," Fuziah said, before training her guns on Bung.

"Just sitting there (in the constituency) and making noise when things like this happen won't help solve the problem. Kinabatangan (Bung) doesn't seem to understand that," she added.
