Now staying put in a police station is a crime?

YOURSAY 'Arrested and jailed for refusing to leave a police station? Only in Bolehland.’

Tian Chua slapped with one-month jail term

CiViC: How efficient of the courts all of a sudden. By the way, how can PKR vice-president Tian Chua be charged for intrusion if he did not "enter" the restricted area? He was, after all, arrested and sent there by the police themselves.

And what's the basis of the deputy public prosecutor's (DPP) request for bail not to be granted? Is the Batu parliamentarian a terrorist or what?

Fair&Just: Tian Chua is a MP. He has been sentenced for such an ambiguous offence (detained at detention centre and charged for not leaving?).

But the malice and bad faith in the DPP's objection to a stay of execution and his quest for not granting bail is so obvious and very clear to all that there is sinister intention in wanting the MP jailed.

Corgito Ergo Sum: Refusing to leave a detention centre after being detained there constitutes intrusion? I think an immediate judicial review is needed, failing which all logic and common sense has vanished from our system of democracy.

Ferdtan: Is the Pulapol police training centre a security-sensitive area that an elected MP cannot be there? This is against the basic human rights as enshrined by our constitution. No right-thinking judge can overrule that principle.

Anticonmen: Those who are stealing millions of the people's money get away scot-free but a person 'who refuses to leave a detention centre' gets to go to jail because he is an elected MP and a member of a political party which is the ruling government of certain states. This is the vindictiveness of the thieves.

Storm: Wow, we have so many unresolved criminal cases that the attorney-general has not appeal, but on this little case they are so quick to jump on it. Hey, the rakyat can see the iniquity of it all.

1braincell: Arrested and imprisoned for refusing to leave a police station? Only in Bodohland!

Mukhriz praises Pakatan's kangkung of deception

Sali Tambap: The price hike is not a matter of perception. PM Najib Razak tried to trivialise it to deflect the reality in order to soothe the disgruntled rakyat who might want to demonstrate against his administration.

Don’t try to make fun of the rakyat in a very serious situation. Najib could have been more honest like saying he sympathises with the rakyat during these difficult times and then lists down remedial actions.

He could, for example, fix the price of goods and enforce them strictly. People want to see some kinds of concrete actions, not some kangkung bulls**t.

YUNoAnon: I disagree with Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir. When it comes to perception, Umno and BN are actually the best at this. I mean, come on, you keep saying that crime statistics are a matter of perception and the statistics say it is low.

Victor Johan: Wow, Mukhriz attempting to hit two birds with one stone's throw. Nice try, but the majority of the rakyat are not so stupid. Go learn some more from big old daddy.

Cry, My Beloved Country: Malaysians must surely wonder what Mukhriz’s statement "when it comes to creating or manipulating perception, the opposition wins hands down" really means.

What, for example, was the perception that was created? What was the perception that was manipulated?

Have not the prices of all kinds of goods escalated? Surely, it cannot be a hallmark of political leadership and responsibility to utter meaningless rhetoric and then lapse into deafening silence when clarification is sought?

Kuala Bear: Wrong, Mukhriz. "When it comes to creating or manipulating perception," your dad takes the crown. For more than two decades, we were fooled by his Malayness, his privatisation policies, his racial bias and the list goes on.

But you know what, some things are like condoms, it can't be used twice. Your dad probably wished that you be his insurrection. But unfortunately for you, you only inherited half his venom and none of his wit (albeit warped).

And when the house of false perceptions comes tumbling down you will be the one who is buried.

Mohgui: "But a responsible citizen should be able to see how good and capable our leader are to have managed such a multiracial country, that they have been able to keep it peaceful, where the economy is also good," said Mukhriz.

If our leader is so effective in managing a multiracial country, he would have sent his police to round up those ‘kurang ajar’ people who incited a May 13 repeat. But instead, he turned a deaf ear and will probably praise them for their actions.

Louis: Kedah executive councillor Mohd Rawi Abd Hamid is one of the few intelligent Umno leaders - he saw the “mistake” of Najib using kangkung as an example of price decreases.

But I think he was trying to be polite. Most probably, he wanted to say how stupid Najib was in using kangkung as the example.

Onyourtoes: When people said BN leaders have no intellect, we the people just can’t agree more. So they think it is the opposition’s ploy to play up the kangkung issue.

Look, it is the people; no amount of tricks by the opposition leaders would be able to prompt the people to act unless it is acted out of their own free will.

Why not you BN leaders start something to ridicule the opposition leaders and see whether it will get the support of the people?

It is not about kangkung, it is about the people’s frustration with a completely inept and corrupt government. Umno owes this country that much not to turn it into a racial issue.
