The sex survey that found its way to primary school children in Nilai was from a local clinic, according to the Negri Sembilan Education Department.

State Education Department director Kalsom Khalid said the survey was distributed to primary schools without her department's knowledge, according to a report by The Star .

"This has nothing to do with us. They did so without obtaining approval from the state Education Department,” Kalsom is quoted as saying.

She added that the matter was under investigation.

The survey, first highlighted by state assemblypersons J Arulkumar (Nilai) and P Gunasekaran (Senawang), asked children, among others, whether they masturbated, watched pornography and had homosexual relationship.

Parents had complained about the survey after their children asked about the questions in the survey, which they could not understand.

According one part of Arulkumar’s correspondence posted on his Facebook page, a user, claiming to be a student in Nilai, said the survey was distributed by "outsiders".

"They said fill up first. First they came in, then closed the windows and doors," the student said.

Meanwhile, Education Minister II Idris Jusoh said his ministry was also investigating the matter.
