None of the participants at the gathering to protest the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was injured or stabbed as claimed by some quarters on the Internet, said Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Zainuddin Ahmad.

He said a picture, allegedly sent on Papagomo's Twitter, showing a participant lying on stretcher with a caption saying that a member of the PAS' Amal Unit who was involved in a fight with SAMM was stabbed and died was an old photograph.

On a claim that three media photographers were injured while covering the gathering, Zainuddin said the police had yet to receive any report on the matter.

He claimed about 15,000 people participated in the gathering.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur police chief Mohmad Salleh said the situation in the capital city was under control at 5pm today, although in some places, the crowd had yet to disperse.

He said the situation returned to normal at about 5.30pm when all the participants dispersed.

"There were minor incidents, like participants pushing one another, but the situation was under control," he added.
