As the Penang state legislative assembly opens tomorrow, all assemblypersons including Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, have to attend.

As such, Penang DAP will not be able to attend the Teluk Intan by-election nomination day in full force tomorrow to show support for its candidate, Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud.

However the party's Bukit Gelugor candidate Ramkarpal Singh will represent the state DAP.

"There’s not enough time to attend Dyana’s nomination due to the sitting of the state assembly," Lim ( left ) explained at a press conference in Air Itam.

He however emphasised that in the two by-elections - Bukit Gelugor and Teluk Intan - DAP has proven that it celebrates diversity.

He reiterated that DAP created history by placing a young Malay female lawyer in a Chinese majority area to show its struggles for a Malaysian Malaysia.

"We are unlike BN who is racist until the end. We want to show that Malays can care for Chinese and Chinese can care for Malays.

"We do want any differences where only Malays can take care of Malays and Chinese take care of Chinese," he said.

Ramkarpal, 38, is already in his seventh day of campaigning for the Bukit Gelugor seat. Polling day is May 25, next Sunday.

Dyana Sofya, 27, is facing veteran Gerakan president Mah Siew Kong, 53, for the seat which goes to the polls on May 31.
