TELUK INTAN Gerakan adviser Chang Ko Youn said the party will not use the photograph of DAP candidate Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud with Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali as campaign material.

The party, he added, is more interested in highlighting the strength of its candidate Mah Siew Keong as an experienced leader.

"We won't use that kind of tactic," he told a press conference in Teluk Intan.

Chang ( left ) was responding to Ibrahim’s suggestion to use the photograph as campaign fodder since DAP and PKR used him as well when it came to ruining Chinese support for BN.

When quizzed on this today, Dyana said it was up to Gerakan on whether it wanted to use the photograph.

She added that the photograph does not indicate that she agreed with Perkasa's ideology, which she termed as extremism.

Dyana will be facing Mah in the May 31 by-election for the Teluk Intan parliament seat.

On Mah’s possible senatorship, Chang revealed that under BN’s new policy, leaders who were defeated in elections, especially in by-elections, would have no way to hold ministerial post.

“In other words, Mah must win Teluk Intan by-election in order to be in the cabinet,” he said.

During a ceramah yesterday, several DAP leaders accused Mah of going through the “back door” to gain a ministerial post by becoming a senator should he lose to DAP’s Dyana Soyfa Mohd Daud in the May 31 polls.

‘Underdog’ impression

Meanwhile, Chang alleged DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang with playing psychological warfare by saying that DAP’s chances of winning the by-election were only 40 percent.

He slammed Lim for creating an ‘underdog’ impression to boost up number of votes.

“DAP claims they have 85 percent of Chinese support... they think the Chinese vote is ‘solid’, and send Dyana to fish for Malay votes,” he claimed.

Chang described DAP as arrogant for taking Chinese support for granted, and did not consider the feeling of the opposition party’s grassroots and Teluk Intan folk by fielding Dyana as its candidate.
