PKR has retracted the suspension of former Kapar MP S Manickavasagam after accepting this explanation for speaking against Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim in the media.

“After listening to his explanation, the political bureau agreed to issue a stern warning and immediately retract the suspension of his membership,” PKR disciplinary committee chairperson Tan Kee Kwong (left) said.

The decision was made by the political bureau chaired by PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail last night.

Manickavasagam, who is up against Khalid for the post of Kuala Selangor division chief, was reported by Bernama as accusing Khalid of money politics in the ongoing party polls.

The Kuala Selangor division level polls on May 10 was among the long list of Selangor division level elections cancelled due to complaints of irregularities and violence.

In a statement, Tan said that re-polling will begin this Sunday.

“We view any attempt to disrupt the polling process seriously and will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against any member involved in such activities,” he said.

Money politics, threats

PKR also sacked and suspend four others for offences linked to the party polls, including money politics. They are:

  • K Gunasekaran (Hulu Selangor), sacked for heading a group of 10 people to threaten the polls committee staff at the division level polls;

  • Md Nasib Rahim (Bagan Serai), sacked for three years for urging that Tan and PKR deputy president Azmin Ali resign in a Sinar Harian article;

  • Ibrahim Mahidin (Kuala Selangor), sacked for failure to answer to a showcause letter on allegations on money politics at the division level polls; and

    •  

  • Monizza @ Sarimah Abdul Ghani (Kampar), suspended for a year for failure to answer to a showcause letter over making a media statement critical to the party.
