IGP and Sanjeevan - who would you believe?
YOURSAY ‘No prizes for guessing who the majority of Malaysians would believe.’
'Biggest joker' IGP lying, says whistleblower
Abasir: Given the high degree of antipathy towards the court-order defying police chief and the fact that R Sri Sanjeevan was shot by person(s) who remain unknown and free despite the investigative prowess of Khalid Abu Bakar, Malaysians would naturally tend to believe the whistleblower victim.
But as many Malaysiakini commenters have suggested, this support for his cause may soon evaporate if he does not take a neutral party into confidence, reveal the evidence he has and let the facts surface.
It should be clear even to him that he has taken on an entire establishment which is sworn to protect itself above anything or anyone else.
Sanjeevan needs help but he will not get it from the police, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, ‘Transparency’ minister Paul Low or Pemandu's Corruption NKRA apologists.
He may also damage his cause if he were to take his evidence to opposition politicians whose involvement will be dismissed as mere politics.
He needs someone of the stature and competence of lawyer Americk Sidhu or Suhakam deputy chairperson Dr Khaw Lake Tee if justice is what he seeks.
Guna Otak Sikit: Between the IGP and Sanjeevan, who has been shot before, who do I trust and who do I feel is more trustworthy? It is, of course, a no-brainer decision.
Vijay47: In the collection of passionate comments here, two issues come to mind.
First, Sanjeevan, I admire and support your quest for better accountability from the police. But your constant warnings of "I shall release damning evidence" is starting to lose its venom and instead, acquiring a shade of doubt and impatience.
The time for expecting a professional response from the inspector-general of police (IGP) is long gone, just make public whatever documents, photos, or other material you have. Otherwise, your credibility will be affected.
The second point is directed to Khalid Abu Bakar - Sanjeevan has point blank, openly, called you a liar.
Are you, the IGP of the country, going to charge or sue him for casting aspersions on your honour and integrity or whatever such virtues you believe you have?
Or are you going to take the middle path and chicken out?
Aries46: Sanjeevan, whether or not the IGP is a joker, he is surely a liar to claim that police have never shielded errant cops.
Despite the deaths of hundreds of innocent detainees under suspicious circumstances in police custody, how many of the ‘murders’ have been brought to justice?
In most instances of crime allegedly committed by police personnel, action is not taken simply because the so-called investigation is done internally by the police themselves.
Even if it goes to court, the charges do not stick due to to poor investigation and weakness of the case.
It is not for Khalid to gloat over how righteous and law abiding the police force is. The conduct and integrity of our police personnel is in the public domain and it is for the people to pass judgement.
If Khalid really means what he claims and want to substantiate it, then have the guts to bring on the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) and let them say how fantastic the IGP and his force are.
Maybe he can start by identifying those behind Sanjeevan's shooting.
Keturunan Malaysia: IGP, there is only one liar in this case here. It is either you or MyWatch chairperson R Sri Sanjeevan and the latter said you are the liar.
Now the ball is at your feet, IGP. Prove that you are not a liar now that you said you are not, and until you do so, you are perceived to be one.
Negarawan: Sanjeevan, frankly speaking, I don't think you're managing this well. You have been talking about making exposures even before your unfortunate incident but so far nothing has come out of it.
If you have the evidence, I would strongly suggest that you get the assistance of MP N Surendran or Rafizi Ramli.
You have not made any headway acting by yourself so far. There is no point dealing with the IGP directly as he is only out to protect himself, and he will bury the case immediately.
Even the public has lost trust in him due to his refusal to abide to court orders. Do the smart thing and work with Surendran or Rafizi.
Siang Malam: Wasn't this IGP the same chief police officer (CPO) of Selangor who lied that 15-year-old Amirulrasyid Amzah had a parang in his Proton Saga in Shah Alam when the cops fired 27 shots from a sub-machine gun into his car?
How come they made him the IGP?
Sirach: No prizes for guessing who the vast majority of Malaysians would believe. Here's a clue: he doesn't wear a uniform.
