As MCA and Gerakan scramble to diffuse the tension over Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's remark regarding another racial bloodletting, a pro-Umno website has targeted DAP's Lim Kit Siang and his son, Guan Eng.

DAP and Umno’s detractors have often accused the ruling party of resurrecting the May 13 spectre to strike fear in the hearts of Malaysians.

But a MyKMU.net article argued that Kit Siang ( left ) and Guan Eng are the ones who employed this strategy to win votes.

“May 13 is a historical event of racial riots in which DAP was directly involved. This fact can never be altered.

“What is more important is the question why Guan Eng and DAP love to talk about May 13. The irony is father and son take turns to raise this whenever there is an opportunity to do so,” read the article.

It claimed that DAP is using the approach of former US president George W Bush to win the presidential elections in 2004, where he deliberately raised the fear of terrorist attacks and portrayed himself as a saviour.

“If you remember, during that time, when it was close to the election, footage of Osama bin Laden and his terror activities was constantly shown on TV,” it added.

As a result of this, MyKMU.net said Bush retained the presidency even though it was obvious that he lied about the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

“The same modus operandi is used by DAP with regard to May 13.

“Among the Chinese, DAP uses the perception that it is Umno which sparked off the riots and they are the only ones who can save the Chinese if such an incident recurs,” it added.

MyKMU.net said this is the reason DAP never tires of sowing the seeds of racism and instilling hatred in the people towards Umno and BN.

“Claiming that Muhyiddin said this and that are just excuses.

“The fact is, Guan Eng ( left ) and DAP are just looking for an excuse to talk about May 13 to preserve the fear among the Chinese in Malaysia,” it added.

Both Guan Eng, who is the DAP secretary-general, and his father, the Gelang Patah MP, have condemned Muhyiddin over his remark, which they described as a threat.

Also taking the Umno leader to task was DAP’s P Ramasamy, who is the Penang deputy chief minister.

“MIC might be scared, Gerakan might be scared, MCA might be scared, but I tell you, if you want to bring May 13, you bring it.

“All the time talking May 13, May 13. Bring-lah May 13. You start May 13. This will be the first time the government starts May 13. You think what? You think we’re scared ah?” he was quoted as saying.

However, MCA and Gerakan defended the deputy premier, claiming that he was merely issuing a reminder not to take unity for granted.
