Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) has taken a swipe at DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng by likening him to a worm that is squirming uncomfortably due to the heat.

The controversial movement was responding to Lim's remark that Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin is only qualified to be an idol for the likes of Perkasa and Isma.

"Guan Eng is like a 'cacing kepanasan'. It seems as if he is trying to protect something which is about to be exposed.

"He is like an offender who is trying to hide his wrongdoings," said Isma vice-president Muhammad Fauzi Asmuni.

Lim had criticised Muhyiddin over his remark that the May 13 racial riots could recur, which the opposition leader described as being irresponsible.

Muhyiddin claimed that there is tension among the races due to certain quarters questioning the position of Islam and the implementation of syariah laws.

Fauzi said Lim's reaction suggested that he was the guilty party.

"Guan Eng's response seems like his party is the one mentioned by Muhyiddin to be questioning the position of Islam," added the Isma leader.

In another statement, Isma central committee leader Mohd Hazizi Abd Rahman said there is no room for Muslims to have good thoughts about DAP.

"Whichever Islamic group that has such thoughts about DAP when the basis of its struggle is to bring about the downfall of the concept that Malaysia is an Islamic state, then that group's role as an Islamic group ends because of its blindness towards the enemies of Islam, and in fact working, they are working hand in glove to ensure the success of the enemy’s agenda.

"These groups only lie to the people with their Islamic image," he added.

Hazizi said that MCA has revealed that the Chinese-based BN party can be placed in the same category as DAP.
