Former Bukit Aman CID chief Mohamed Zaman Khan Rahim Khan today lodged a police report against Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy over the latter's alleged seditious statement.

Zaman Khan ( right ) who made the report at the Jalan Tun Razak police station, Kuala Lumpur at 1pm, said Ramasamy's statement could create racial conflict, and threaten national peace and security.

He said such a statement should not be made by an elected representative.

"I made this report as a concerned person, so that the police can investigate and take appropriate action under the Sedition Act 1948," he told reporters after making the police report.

Ramasamy was quoted by an online news portal on Monday as saying that he was not afraid if the May 13 incident happened again.

'DPM's statement a reminder'

He said the MIC, Gerakan and MCA might be scared, and challenged Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to bring back the May 13 race riots.

" Don't just talk. All the time talking about May 13. Bring-lah May 13. You start May 13. This will be the first time the government starts May 13," he was further quoted as saying.

Ramasamy (left) was responding to Muhyiddin's statement in a local newpaper recently, in which he cautioned that racial riots could happen again if discord among the country's ethnic communities continued.

Zaman Khan, however, felt that Muhyiddin's statement was not aimed at creating racial animosity but to remind the people on the need to remain united and to preserve harmony in the country.

He said all quarters should be more responsible in making statements, especially on sensitive issues involving race and religion to avoid any undesirable incident.
