Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak yesterday reaffirmed Malaysia's stand to continue giving its full support to the struggles of the people of Palestine.  

 

He said support and aid would be given to the Palestinians for as long as Palestine had not become a sovereign state.  

 

"We know our brothers in Gaza are being cruelly attacked and the new Palestine ambassador (Anwar Hamadto Kassem Al-Agha) who met me this afternoon told me of the sufferings of the Palestinians.  

 

"Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas has also written to me, asking me to visit the West Bank. Although I have been to Gaza, I have not gone to the West Bank yet.  

 

"I say that as long as Palestine is not a sovereign state, we will support the struggles of its people and we pray that one day they will achieve their aim," he said at a breaking of fast with Selangor residents at Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Mosque.

 

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said Malaysia strongly condemns the cruel acts by Israel against Muslims in Palestine.  

 

He said the irresponsible acts had persisted for so long despite the many resolutions and decisions made by the United Nations (UN) and the UN Security Council against such acts.  

 

He said many things that had been decided for action by the parties concerned in the Palestinian dispute, including Israel, had not been carried out by these irresponsible groups.   

 

"They totally ignored these decisions and continued to act in contradiction to the law and the voice of the global community. Their acts resulted in the death of hundreds of thousands or even millions of Palestinians including children while some had become refugees," he said yesterday.  

 

He said this in his speech at the launching of the Education Ministry's 'Ulul Albab Tahfiz Model' for secondary schools at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Kedah, Mergong, Kedah.
