Rosmah Mansor touched on the importance for husbands to keep their wives happy when urging the Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) to set up a daycare centre for its staff.
In a lighthearted and animated speech, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s wife said such a centre would make mothers happy, and this in turn would increase productivity.
Her suggestion drew a resounding applause from the audience.
Rosmah also jokingly noted that MRCB chairperson Azlan Zainol had clapped as well instead of frowning over her suggestion.
"Now that he has clapped, it’s OK. He did not frown or shoot glances at me. (If he did), I would probably have to talk to him after this. But since he has clapped, kira OK- lah itu ," she added.
Likening the situation to wives who are at home, Rosmah said: "It's just like us wives at home, when we are not happy, we don't care when our husbands come home... Never mind- lah , you do what you want to do."
"But if we are happy... (then we ask our husbands), you want to drink, nak minum , nak makan ," she added.
"Correct or not?" she posed the question to the audience, who responded, "Correct".
Therefore, Rosmah said that it is imperative that husbands keep their wives happy.
"So you must make the women happy, especially your wives. And if you can make the mothers happier, better still,” she added.
The event, organised by MRCB, saw some 200 single mothers receiving RM400 cash and food hampers each.
