Selangor PAS Youth wants Khalid to remain as MB
Selangor PAS Youth today said that Khalid Ibrahim should remain as the Selangor menteri besar, arguing that the excuses being given to replace him were "not good enough".
PKR's decision to replace Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim does not seem to be eliciting the kind of support expected from its allies, especially PAS.
After a statement by Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad that they are not supportive of the move, Selangor PAS Youth has echoed a similar stand.
It said that Khalid should remain as the menteri besar, arguing that the excuses being given to replace him are "not good enough".
The wing's chief Syarhan Humaizi Abdul Halim ( left ) said he supported Iskandar's statement that Selangor PAS wanted Khalid to remain at the helm.
"Justifying this move with the excuse that it stabilises PKR alone is not the best excuse to gamble on the people's trust which have been built by Pakatan Rakyat in Selangor and also nationwide," Syarhan said in a statement.
In February, PKR announced the "Kajang move", where de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim was to contest a state seat in Selangor in order to become the next MB at the expense of Khalid.
But the move was foiled when the Court of Appeal convicted him on a sodomy charge.
Following this, his wife and party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail contested in the engineered by-election and retained the Kajang seat for PKR.
After months of lull, PKR announced their intention to install Wan Azizah as the next MB replacing Khalid.
But similar to the Kajang move, it appears that PKR did not get the green light from their allies beforehand.
Meanwhile, Syarhan also said today that Khalid's "excellent service" to the people of Selangor cannot be denied.
"We would like to remind the people who are rushing into this decision not to be clumsy just for short-term profit while overlooking the long-term loss for Pakatan," he warned.
