Khalid sullies his legacy with insubordination

YOURSAY ‘All the good that Khalid had done will be completely gone.’

Bring on MACC, Khalid dares PKR

Ferdtan: Going to Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to report on Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim? Come on Khalid, we are not born yesterday.

The allegation, if it is true, will be definitely hard to prove. That does not mean that it cannot be true. The MACC, we know, will not do a good job. Why? You are now unofficially declared as an asset to BN and a liability to your own party and Pakatan Rakyat.

Just check who are the ones rooting for you? It is BN and the Umno-controlled newspapers which are loudest in cheering you on. Even those PAS leaders who support you are seen to be mainly from the party faction that favours Umno-PAS unity.

The longer Khalid is adamant in fighting his own party by refusing to step down, the more we suspect that he has a higher agenda that spells foul to his personal integrity.

All the good that Khalid had done in the past, they will be completely gone. The one celebrated by all, who created history by being the first Selangor Pakatan chief minister, may end up being the most scorned.

The Reaper: If Khalid didn't hold on to his MB's job, this would not have happened. You have brought this upon yourself.

Now mud is being flung and you have to defend these allegations unnecessarily. Learn to go when you know you are not wanted by your party. After all, it was your party that gave you this job.

Pemerhati: Khalid's behaviour in meeting a very happy PM Najib Razak and DPM Muhyddin Yassin (as clearly seen on TV) in Putrajaya and signing the water deal without telling anyone was the first strong indication that there was something very fishy going on and Khalid had probably made a crooked deal with Najib and Umno.

Therefore, Khalid can be very confident that MACC, the police and Bank Negara would not touch him as they are all under the control of Najib and Umno.

WDA: We hold PKR to much higher standards. The last thing we want to see is for the party to behave like BN.

Back up your accusations against Khalid with convincing proof and not mere speculations or half-truths.

Party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution lost his credibility when he said Khalid may not be corrupt but has integrity issues. This is after strongly insinuating that some "hanky-panky" have been going on relating to various issues involving the MB.

Take Khalid's dare by reporting the matter immediately to the MACC or the police. The ball is at your feet, Mr Secretary-General.

Mushiro: Any Umno leader or anyone who is aligned to Umno, will never be prosecuted for corruption or embezzlement by MACC, police or Bank Negara.

Knowing this and that he is safe in Umno’s hands, Khalid is daring his PKR colleagues to report him.

Bash: The modus operandi between political parties aren't very much different. They know that money can buy political future, hence it’s best to rob the bank first.

Doesn't Selangor have a healthy bank balance? Is this the reason for the infamous Kajang Move? If Pakatan wishes to change the political landscape and do good by its constituents, it must prove that it is different from the same old same old.

In short, I believe what Khalid said more than the rest. As they say, old habits die hard. And which party were the PKR people from before this?

Anonymous_ABG: The war of words between Khalid and his own party has shaken the trust of the public. We thought Khalid as a man of integrity, honest and a good leader but over a period of time serious doubts have been cast.

Saifuddin had stressed that he was not suggesting Khalid to be a corrupt politician but merely that he had issues of integrity involving the RM66 million out-of-court by settlement with Bank Islam and a series of business deals granted to a company shortly after the loan settlement.

MACC doesn’t come into the picture but Khalid has a moral obligation to clear his name.

Fair Play: I hate to say this. By and large, politicians are not highly regarded for their principle and integrity.

But it took a former highly regarded corporate player who declared himself time and again he is a professional and revered by his staunch supporters as a man of principle to drag the reputation of politicians to a new low.

Kingfisher: Notwithstanding the opinion amongst some that Khalid is a responsible MB in some ways, his conduct in the last few months by way of his defiance to relinquish the position has put him in a such poor light that he is increasingly seen as a stubborn person prepared to undermine the very organisation that gave him the job in the first place.

And all this defiance for his own misplaced sense of righteousness. Whatever manner of corporate position he served in the public/private sector, he has apparently not acknowledged a simple truism that you cannot persist to serve at the displeasure of the "board".

In corporate terms, as he ought to know, there is such an avenue as "summary dismissal" for insubordination.

It is amusing how in a national atmosphere reputed for lax professional/political accountability, many who should relinquish their positions for default/incompetence, waste of public resources, etc, continue to hold office despite the displeasure of the general public.

PKR tightens noose on a recalcitrant Khalid
