Selangor state machinery is being abused by Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to serve his personal political agenda, claimed DAP.
At a press conference today, three DAP reps claimed Khalid is using Communication Corporation Sdn Bhd (CCSB), a state GLC, to spread propaganda justifying Khalid remaining as MB.
They pointed out how, for example, the latest issue of Selangorkini's Malay version read, "Selangor people are getting smarter in politics, because they no longer care for the ideology of party politics but priortise the leader's integrity and prestige."
Damansara Utama assemblyperson Yeo Bee Yin said this was an attempt to justify Khalid's position.
The press conference was jointly held by Yeo, Bukit Gasing assemblyperson Rajiv Rishyakaran and Kuala Kubu Bharu assemblyperson Lee Kee Hiong.
They called for all 56 Selangor Pakatan Rakyat service centres to stop distributing the papers.
"CCSB should not waste resourses printing Selangorkini anymore, because we will not distribute them.
"We will send all these propaganda materials for recycling," said Yeo ( right ).
Apart from Selangorkini , CCSB also owns TV Selangor and Media Selangku , the weekly Malay version of Selangorkini that has 56,000 circulation, while TV Selangor has 22,000 subscribers and Media Selangku 's Facebook has 158,000 'likes', she said.
She added the advisor of CCSB is Faekah Husin, who is Khalid's former political assistant and closed confidant.
Selangorkini used words such as "accusations" referring to Pakatan Rakyat's comments, while using words like "opinions" to report what Khalid says, she added.
"Selangorkini should give equal coverage to both Khalid and Wan Azizah," she said.
She urged CCSB editors to understand the latest political development, in which Khalid is no longer a member of Pakatan.
'Not Khalid's personal media'
Rajiv in his turn pointed out that the RM15 million Khalid used to invest in the company was meant to promote Pakatan's policies to Selangor people, rather than for Khalid's personal propaganda.
"He can use his own money, but not the taxpayers' money.
"He is against Pakatan Rakyat's manifesto, which fights for free and fair media," he said.
Rajiv said Khalid used to condemn Umno abusing Utusan Malaysia, but noted that MB "is going down to the same road as Umno".
Lee meanwhile said Malay constituents in Kuala Kubu Bharu, which is a rural constituency, heavily depend on Selangorkini to get updated on latest developments in Selangor.
"My voters rely on Selangorkini , it would be all taken up immediately after its arrival."
On a related note, when asked about Pakatan's strategies apart from waiting for the November state assembly meeting, Rajiv said that Wan Azizah has written a letter to the Selangor sultan, and they will wait for his reply before further action.
He added that if Selangor goes for a snap election, PAS' chances will be the most affected in the coalition.
Yeo however pointed out that Khalid should call for an emergency state assembly sitting instead of waiting if he claims to have "majority support" in the house.
"Let us propose no-confidence vote and decide." she said.
