Selangor BN liaison committee chairperson Noh Omar joined several hundreds at a gathering to support the sultan over the menteri besar crisis.

Calling on all to support the ruler’s decision, he said BN cannot remain silent when the sultan's actions are scrutinised by the opposition.

"BN will rise when the monarchy is challenged and disrespected and we will continue to fight if, after the swearing in ceremony, there are parties who are against the sultan's choice.

"We need to support whoever the sultan opts for, if there is anyone who disputes his decision, BN will not keep quiet," he added.

The gathering organised by a coalition of NGOs called Gerak Daulat saw some 500 people representing 18 NGOs donning yellow shirts symbolising the royalty at Section 16 in Shah Alam.

The assembly was called "Himpunan Menjunjung Kasih Sultan (Expressing love to the Sultan)".

Meanwhile, Noh denied that BN had before this backed current MB Abdul Khalid Ibrahim or any other individual in order to form a unity government with the federal ruling coalition.

He said the state BN was merely supporting Khalid's efforts to cooperate with the federal government to solve the water problems in the state.

He also stressed that BN does not have any interests in the administration of the state and only wanted the crisis to be resolved soon.

"Whoever is appointed, we are still the opposition, we accept his (sultan’s) decision and we will do our work as opposition," he said.

"We do not want to think about dissolution of state assembly. We hope that after Tuesday, this crisis will be over. There's plenty of work to do, Selangor must be administered well," he added.

Pakatan Rakyat has failed to reach a proper consensus in choosing the next MB, with PKR officially sticking to their president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as its sole choice.

PAS, meanwhile, sent the names of its own assemblypersons to the Selangor palace, while party president Abdul Hadi Awang had openly said he did not agree with Wan Azizah replacing Khalid.
