The Penang state government's action against Penang Island Municipal Council (MPPP) councillor Iszuree Ibrahim by freezing his allocation proves DAP's iron fist rule, according to Umno Youth.

Penang Umno Youth chief Rafizal Abdul Rahim said the incident has revealed DAP's true face as in those who criticise the party would be crushed.

In view of this, he said PAS leaders must swing into action.

"The drastic action against Iszuree reveals DAP's iron fist. The PAS leadership cannot remain quiet, they must voice out and defend Iszuree.

"DAP's action is unfair and oppresses PAS," he added in a report in Umno Online .

Iszuree remains a municipal councillor although he has been banned from attending any sub-committee meetings and his budget allocation has been frozen.

Rafizal also questioned PAS' role in Pakatan Rakyat, asking if the Islamic party had a voice in the opposition bloc.

"Isn't PAS permitted to reprimand its ally if there are transgressions," he added.

Furthermore, Rafizal said what the Penang PAS treasurer had raised at the recent PAS muktamar was for the good of the people of Penang.

He had said the state goverment was pro-developer as it continued to impose policies left by the previous BN administration.

Authoritarian regime

Echoing it partner, MCA said that the action against Iszuree proves that DAP is running an "authoritarian and dictatorial regime".

Penang MCA Youth chief Michael Lee also criticised PKR de facto l eader Anwar Ibrahim’s refusal to come to Iszuree’s (right) defence "a joke".

"I urge Pakatan, especially the DAP-led state government of Penang, to walk their talk on transparency, accountability and credibility.

"The Penang state government should humble themselves as their job and responsibility requires them to serve the people, and they cannot do so if they refuse to accept criticism," he said.

Iszuree's statement was reported by Malaysiakini on Sept 19, but he claims he was misquoted and is mulling legal action against the news portal.
