Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng had ignored a memorandum sent by PAS on issues raised by councillor Iszuree Ibrahim at the muktamar, said Penang PAS.

State PAS secretary Fadzil Kemi said that the memorandum was sent to Lim in July, but there was no response from the CM.

Further, Iszuree (left in photo) had sent a copy of his speech at the muktamar to Lim to support his claim that he was misquoted by Malaysiakini , but he was dropped from the Penang City Council subcommittees regardless.

"He was merely proposing a better policy and system on land in Penang. What we have now is a legacy of BN," Fadzil said in a press conference today.

"He was not questioning the state's housing policy. This issue can be addressed in a wise manner."

Fadzil said that PAS had exhausted all avenues to meet with Lim to discuss the issue of eviction, especially those related to Malay villages.

"We don't have much space. We only have two PAS councillors in the island and we do not have a state cabinet member, we are a minority," Fadzil lamented.

He said that Penang PAS is nevertheless seeking a meeting with the CM on Oct 2 to discuss land issues, and Iszuree’s position on the MPPP is only a part of the agenda.

He also urged Malaysiakini to retract the Sept 19 article and "rework the title", arguing that what Iszuree said did not fit the headline 'PAS delegate says Penang pro-developer like BN'. Malaysiakini is standing by its report.

'Mao Tze Tung government'

Iszuree incurred the wrath of the Penang government and his colleagues in the Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) when he alleged in his speech that the state was continuing the policies of the previous BN government which was "pro-developer".

He then suggested that Penang implement a squatter policy where developers are banned from obtaining a commencement of work on their land until they provide a better compensation package including giving villagers replacement units following their eviction.

Iszuree said he forwarded a copy of his speech to Lim on Sept 22 but was dropped from the MPPP subcommittee without a hearing for him to explain himself.

The decision by the state executive council on Sept 25 also saw his budget allocation frozen.

15 MPPP councillors also signed a petition urging that he be sacked from the council, claiming they cannot work with someone who lied about the situation in Penang.

Meanwhile, venting his frustration in the media and on his Facebook page, Iszuree condemned the decision to drop him as "undemocractic", and that the Penang is a "Mao Tze Tung goverment".

"Do you think it is fair to do this to me? I was not even called to give my side of the story,” he said.

Lim (above) had declined to response to the issue today but his political secretary Wong Hon Wai is calling a press conference with MPPP councillors on the matter tomorrow.
