PAS leaders, including from central leadership, have met with Penang chief minister and DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng over the action against a Penang City Council (MPPP) councilor.

Central committee member Mujahid Yusof Rawa said that the meeting was held yesterday following deep concerns within PAS over the action taken against PAS’ MPPP councillor Iszuree Ibrahim.

"We realise that the situation can affect Pakatan Rakyat and a solution must be found," Mujahid said in a statement today.

"We had contacted Lim for a meeting (earlier) but due to his busy and tight schedule‎, we were not able to meet earlier.

 

"We finally met him yesterday and we will be discussing with Iszuree on the next course of action," he stressed.

Mujahid (left) , who is Parit Buntar MP, said that those also in attendance at the meeting at the CM’s office include former Penang PAS commissioner Salleh Man and party state secretary Fadzil Kemi.

Mujahid said that the PAS leaders had explained to Lim the contents of Iszuree’s speech at the PAS muktamar on Sep 19.

Meanwhile, Lim was tightlipped when asked about the meeting with PAS leaders and refused to divulge details.

"The meeting was cordial, we will leave it to PAS for a day to discuss the matter".

Decison made on sacking

 

Asked if the state executive council had made a decision on Iszuree, Lim said "yes" but declined to state if Iszuree keep the post, which he has held since 2008.

 

Asked to comment on criticisms towards the state's action to drop Iszuree without an inquiry, Lim also declined to comment.

 

"The decision has been taken. There had been too many lies. But the truth will come out," Lim (right) said at a press conference yesterday.

The Penang government had removed Iszuree from three MPPP sub-committees and frozen his budget allocations following his speech in the PAS muktamar last month.

His remarks were reported in the article 'PAS delegate: Penang pro-developer, like BN' published by Malaysiakini on Sep 19, but he claims he was misquoted. The portal stands by its report.

19 MPPP councilors have submitted a petition to the government urging that Iszuree be sacked for allegedly lying about Penang policy.

Iszuree accused the Penang government of acting like a " Mao Tze Tung government " for denying him a fair hearing before taking action.

Penang PAS also said that it found it difficult to meet with CM Lim on land matters, while Lim did not respond to its memorandum on the issue of eviction of Malay villagers submitted last July.

When grilled by reporters, Lim’s political secretary Wong Hon Wai admitted that a domestic inquiry was not done but claims this is not required as Iszuree is appointed and not elected to the post.

He also said that he had advised Iszuree, whose term expires end of 2014, to clarify the matter in the media, if it is true that he was misquoted.

MPPP council whip Harvinder Singh, too, admitted that the MPPP did not contact Iszuree personally and only relayed its demand that Iszuree to clarify via the media.
