Did IGP tell Interpol that Alvin mocked him?
YOURSAY ‘Let us remind the IGP that Interpol is not anyone's 'budak suruhan'.’
Interpol called in to help arrest Alvin, Ali
P Dev Anand Pillai: Perhaps Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar should first understand the term 'political asylum'. The asylum seekers are in their host nations with their permission.
Interpol has no business to disturb that arrangement. It will a breach to the sovereignty of the host countries. Asylum seekers are not fugitives.
Anonymous_1408265047: Interpol cannot arrest anyone who has not been convicted of a crime. They can locate someone and then get the country where that person is to arrest them if they are suspected of committing a crime.
If the person has been granted asylum, Malaysia has to seek for the said person to be extradited. They have to convince the court in the country of residence that the said person has indeed committed a crime worthy of extradition.
This means that Malaysia has to provide all the evidence that would be used to convict the suspect. Now that would be interesting. If the court in the country agreed with the defendant that he was being persecuted, there would be no extradition.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights guarantees a fair trial in Sweden and United States. An imagined insult is hardly a crime anywhere in the western world.
MinahBulat: IGP Khalid, why must you insist on making a fool of Malaysia. Either your police lawyers are stupid or they have advised you badly.
Your so-called code red will not be entertained by Interpol because this is what Article 3 of its constitution states: It is strictly forbidden for the organisation to undertake any intervention or activities of a political, military, religious or racial character.
Hello, against Ali Abd Jalil it is 100 percent political, against Alvin Tan it is 100 percent a racial and religious matter. Interpol will not act.
Supercession: No one is impressed by the IGP's bravado, which simply veils his impotence in the face of the two patriots thumbing their noses at him. Pathetic.
Instead of counting on Interpol, why not send the thousands of Perkasa and Isma members to Sweden and US to drag the two dissidents back to Malaysia? While they're there, perhaps Perkasa and Isma members might want to threaten to burn copies of the Bible too?
I'm sure Interpol would heartily agree with the attorney-general (AG) that such a "threat" serves only to lift the name of Islam.
Raja Chulan: Let us remind our IGP that Interpol has its own brain and can think for itself. They are not anyone's 'budak suruhan'.
Peacemaker: So what did the IGP tell Interpol about the two Malaysians seeking asylum overseas?
Did he tell Interpol that one of them mocked him while the other has a penchant for pictures I would not show my grandmother?
SSDhaliwal: Hell hath no fury like the IGP scorned by sex blogger Alvin Tan. The IGP acts like he owns the country and on serious cases with national implications, he defied court orders twice with the AG as his accomplice.
Why do we even have a judiciary when the IGP acts like he is judge, jury and executioner?
We hope Interpol will not partake in this witchhunt to nab political asylum seekers who have been persecuted and will definitely be tried and convicted in Bolehland.
KnockKnock: In the first place, is social activist Ali Abd Jalil a hardcore criminal who had caused disaster and chaos in this country?
Aren't we ashamed to get Interpol to hunt for a kid who was caught and released, time and again?
Fair Play: Probably the top honchos of Interpol would be scratching their heads. Since when is running away from political persecution a crime by international standards?
Msian1st: I don't think Interpol is interested in arresting political prisoners.
The IGP is wasting time on trying to capture two Malaysians who caused no issues to the country, while the man who threatened to burn bibles is free to roam about in Malaysia.
My Opinion: Stupid as it is ... well, the IGP tried his luck. We'll wait and see whether Interpol is equally stupid to waste its time and money on these two petty "offenders".
SanctusSanctusSanctus: Way to go, Khalid. These two dangerous criminals must be arrested by Interpol and brought to Malaysia to be punished. Clearly, they have ‘committed’ crimes more serious than mass murder and drug smuggling.
Truth1: And you think Interpol has the time and inclination to seek out - and repatriate - these `hardened criminals'?
Did you see that fleet of pink 'khinzir' flying outside your window, flapping their flabby wings, and blowing you red-lipped kisses?
Negarawan: The Interpol should arrest the IGP for he has ignored courts orders multiple times.
