The police are seeking the cooperation of the Interpol to locate and arrest asylum seekers Ali Abd Jalil and Alvin Tan.

Inspector General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said that they had requested for the application coded “red notice” through Interpol.

“We have applied for the notice and we are just waiting now,” he said to reporters in a press conference in Cheras today.

Social activist Ali ( left ) is seeking asylum in Sweden, after being arrested four times, slapped with three sedition charges and detained for 22 days.

He claimed that the numerous death threats was his reason to leave the country.

The 29-year-old student was detained for criticising the monarchy on Facebook and was released on bail on Sept 29.

Prior to Ali's leaving, Alvin and his partner Vivian Lee were  charged under the Sedition Act and the Film Censorship Act for uploading controversial materials on the internet.

Alvin, leaving behind Vivian, then fled to the United States on Sept 24, seeking political asylum there.

The fugitive sex blogger also said he fled because he was “seeking political refuge from Umno's tyranny”.

Ali said that he had reached out to Alvin to seek his advice before fleeing abroad.
