YOURSAY 'Don't criticise the IGP, he is beyond perfection.'
Cops go after MP from DAP for rapping IGP
Master Sun: An MP elected by the people should have the right to criticise the inspector-general of police (IGP) if he is not doing his job.
Don't tell me if the IGP is sleeping on the job, the MPs can’t talk about it.
Old Timer: The IGP is wasting taxpayers’ money by using the time of our employees from Special Branch to call in those questioning the progress in the investigation into the death of DAP former aide Teoh Beng Hock.
The IGP is accountable to the taxpayers, and any of our representative should be able to question him.
We do want to know the progress on the investigation into Teoh's death, and we do find a lot of IGP’s statements stupid. Indeed, we find him ineffective and incompetent.
So there, the IGP can call all of us in for questioning.
CQ Muar: Malaysia is about the only country in the world where the police chief is vested with such absolute power. He is so omnipotent he can at will haul up a member of parliament for questioning him.
IGP Khalid Abu Bakar doesn't seem to understand his job and that an MP is an elected lawmaker.
It is indeed ridiculous that Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching be made to give her statement and explain her comments at a dinner function over an issue she deemed questionable.
If that's the case, why hold general elections and have parliamentary sessions? Apparently the citizens in this country seem to live under constant fear of the police with their high-handedness.
Malaysia888: Is this a democracy or a police state?
Now you know why the IGP does not want an independent commission overseeing the police. This way he can continue to be a king and do whatever he wants.
Argonist: Perhaps in future all MPs, assemblypersons and citizens should only use the word 'untouchable' to refer to you-know-who so there is no proof of naming the person but is well understood to be this incredible fellow.
CiViC: First we have Prime Minister Najib Razak, whereby you can't do anything even to his pictures. Newspapers got closed down for questioning him, and now the IGP. Democracy? Where?
They are all civil servants (except for PM’s wife Rosmah Mansor, who is a nobody), working for the people, but raised to be lords and gods even.
Onyourtoes: Can't we see all the MPs elected by 52 percent of the rakyat are powerless to face more than 100,000 police officers sustained and paid for by taxpayers?
Bay Ta Han: If the police force is really that good and fair, it would not need a court to instruct it to re-investigate the Teoh Beng Hock case. But don't criticise the IGP, he is beyond perfection.
JustAMalaysian: If anyone does not understand the meaning of the word 'intimidation', this case against MP Teo is a good example of that word.
'No moles, just morons in police force'
Sa Tombs: If indeed there are moles within the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police), this means that the PDRM has been compromised and if the very people who are supposed to protect the public have been compromised, then nothing is sacred anymore.
We already have moles in every department and they get away with it because of the lack of transparency and because of corruption.
When one makes a project proposal or a tender is called, the photocopying machines work overtime and all details are furnished to rivals.
Time and again, many have complained about these moles but nothing is done about it because ultimately Umno and its cronies cannot make money.
Bystander: How do have high achievements without sincere efforts and approaches?
Police notify their intention without realising that it would also warn those gambling shops to "behave"? What intelligence is this?
Anon1: Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng, do you actually think there are morons in the police force? I disagree.
Our police are the smartest in the world and have very sharp business acumen and police tactics. By announcing their intention to crack down on illegal gambling operators, they immediately brought down the number of such operators to two percent.
The educated operators who read the news immediately ceased their operations. With one statement, it became a win-win for everyone.
Rupert16: Indeed, the rot in PDRM starts at the head.
