The Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government has no qualms about cooperating with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) if there are elements of corruption involving the five waste incinerator projects.

Its minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan said if the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) can provide evidence of corruption, he will not have any problem allowing MACC officers to investigate his ministry.

"If PAC has evidence that there are elements of corruption when the projects were first launched, I have no problem allowing MACC to investigate us.

"We're open and if there are issues to be brought to the MACC, we will work together to investigate if are exist elements of corruption when the projects were initially offered and built a few years ago," Abdul Rahman ( above ) told a press conference at Putrajaya today.

When asked, Abdul Rahman said that his ministry is also ready to face the Public Accounts Committee on the matter.

"No problem. If the PAC calls the ministry, we will go, no problem.

"You must remember that I was once a PAC member, too," he quipped.

He also commented on PAC chairperson Nur Jazlan Mohamed's recommendation that action be taken against the ministry's secretary general, contrators and director of the waste management department.

He said that this is irrelevent as although there are issues with waste management, it is not due to incinerator technology.

He said the ministry is now seeking ways to ensure all incinerators work at full capacity.

"I stress that it is not a problem of incinerator technology but implementation and construction," he said.
