Pump price of RON97 petrol will go down to RM2.55 per litre starting midnight.
This is a 20 sen drop from RM2.75 per litre.
This was confirmed by the Petrol Dealers' Association Malaysia.
At RM2.55 per litre, pump price of RON97 is only 25 sen more than the subsidised RON95.
The government is subsidising the lower grade fuel at 13 sen per litre, as at November market prices.
In October, the government said it was subsidising RON95 at 28 sen per litre.
The reduction in RON97 prices comes as PKR threatens mass demonstrationson Dec 31 if RON95 pump prices are not reduced by Dec 1.
PKR vice president Rafizi Ramli said the government must cut the price of RON95 following a drop in Brent crude oil price.
On Sunday, Deputy Finance Minister Ahmad Maslan said he will propose that the government drop the price of RON95 price if crude oil prices drop to US$70 to US$75 per barrel.
This is as at that price, pump prices would be equal to or less than the present RM2.30 per litre.
