Dr M and Khairy all smiles over 1MDB poser
It was a rare occasion that brought together two bitter rivals, Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Khairy Jamaluddin, who once described himself as the former premier’s number one foe.
Despite their differences, the pair appeared to be on the same wavelength when confronted with a poser on the ailing state investment arm 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) at the sidelines of an event this morning.

Despite their differences, the pair appeared to be on the same wavelength when confronted with a poser on the ailing state investment arm 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) at the sidelines of an event this morning.
Questioned during a joint press conference if the upcoming Umno annual general assembly should debate the issue, the two responded with smiles and nothing more.
At this juncture, the event organiser intervened, stating, "Next question".
Previously, Mahathir had been critical of the debt-ridden 1MDB, which is the brainchild of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
The opposition has also been harping on the scandal, posing a slew of questions and revealing documents, with the paper trail stretching from Putrajaya to the Cayman Islands.
Some have described the 1MDB imbroglio as possessing the potential to deliver a fatal blow to Najib's rein and there is also speculation that even BN lawmakers are hesitant to enter into the ring to defend him.
No comment on Khairy's school response
Meanwhile, Mahathir also chose not to comment on Khairy's reaction to his criticism of ministers sending their children to private and international schools instead of national schools.
"I have already stated my views on this issue, there is no need for me to explain further," replied the former premier, referring to his blog posting on the national education system.
Yesterday, Khairy, who is also youth and sports minister, said he and several other ministers, including deputy premier Muhyiddin Yassin, send their children to national schools.
Mahathir and Khairy attended the launch of the Le Tour de Langkawi logo in Putrajaya.
Meanwhile, Mahathir also drew a comparison between the Formula One and Le Tour De Langkawi.
He said in F1, viewers see the same circuit for three days whereas in the Langkawi tour, they would get to view the whole peninsular.
In terms of publicity, he said the Langkawi tour is more valuable than F1, as the former is much cheaper to organise.
