A taxi driver who allegedly slapped and pinched a 26-year-old insurance company employee has been fined RM1,000 by the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court today.

Magistrate Nuraminatul Mardiah Mohd Noor instructed Chong Kim Fah, 48, to be jailed two months if he fails to pay the fine, reports The Star today.

The magistrate meted out the sentence against Chong today after he pleaded guilty to causing injury to Tan Yun Ceat.

Chong was charged with causing hurt to Tan by hitting her using his hand at Jalan Angkosa off Jalan Nagasari at about 7.40am on Nov 17.

Noor Svetlana Mohd Noor Nordin was the deputy public prosecutor while counsel Khairull Amin Abdullah appeared for Chong.

According to Tan’s police report, the incident occurred when she was driving from Bandar Menjalara to Jalan Raja Chulan on Nov 17.

She said two cars were parked on both sides of the road and when she drove ahead, a taxi drove towards her from the opposite direction.

The taxi driver honked at her and when she refused to move her vehicle, he allegedly rammed her car. The taxi driver then came out of his vehicle and slapped her.

Tan's Facebook posting, which shows her lips bleeding following the incident, had gone viral on the internet.

Steering lock rage

In a separate case, a man is to be charged at a Magistrate Court in Petaling Jaya today for hitting another man’s car using a steering lock.

According to the charge sheet sighted by Malaysiakini , the incident occurred on Nov 15 at Jalan Persiaran Tujuan, Subang Perdana.

The man allegedly hit another road user's car using a steering lock on the car’s bonnet and right side mirror.

If found guilty, he may be imprisoned for up to two years, or fined or both.

This is the third case of road rage reported this week. 

Yesterday, Khoo Kok Ann, 58, was charged with criminal intimidation and causing mischief against another road user. 

He was charged with bending 35-year-old Alisa Thean's car wiper and spitting on her car windscreen. 

Last July, Siti Fairrah Ashyikin Kamaruddin was fined RM5,000 after she banged the bonnet of a senior citizen's car, with a steering lock.

Siti Fairrah Ashyikin, better known as Kiki, and Khoo were hounded by netizens after a video and pictures of them committing the offence circulated online.
