It’s about Sedition Act selectively used, stupid

YOURSAY ‘So Mr 'Hardcore' Zahid, will you take any action against Mashitah?’

'Hardcore' Zahid issues Sedition Act warning

Ferdtan: "I promise when this Act has been strengthened by the prime minister, I will continue to take action against the offenders," said Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Then how come the worst offender, Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali, is still free when he made obvious seditious remarks? Yes, we know the Sedition Act are reserved for people who are critical of the government.

Or for that matter only a few days earlier, Wanita Umno delegate Mashitah Ibrahim had made seditious remarks that the Chinese had burned the Quran - despite having been pointed out to her by the press of Kedah MB Mukhriz Mahathir’s earlier statement that no copies were burned.

Was her intention or motive clear? Knowing it not to be true, she continued to provoke . So Mr 'Hardcore' Zahid (as you like yourself to be known), will you take any action against Mashitah?

No? Sorry, we forgot - she is from Umno.

Bash: We will have no problem with the law if it is not used nilly willy to prosecute only those with anti-government sentiments.

Democracy allows for people to raise questions, even those that are perceived to be sensitive provided those questions are raised in a manner that does not cause hurt to other communities. Agreed?

Tell the Truth: Now that the circus is over, the ring master is giving warning that he is going to be tough with the Sedition Act.

Tough against who? No prize for guessing. Anybody who speaks out against the government will deem to have committed sedition except pro-Umno NGOs and Umno members.

Even MCA, MIC and Gerakan are not going to be spared. The Mafia chief has spoken.

Vgeorgemy: Ahmad Zahid is good in persecuting good souls under Sedition Act while he is failed to convince his own colleagues in the cabinet on certain security situation in the country.

PM: Learn from Dr M's mistake with Chinese votes

Anonymous_3e86: The fact is the majority of Malaysians, not just the Chinese, have lost trust in Najib Razak and BN.

As the PM, Najib had all the opportunities to make things right for the country but he has failed miserably, time and again.

His failure to control his Umno colleagues, his failure to reign in Ibrahim Ali, Ridhuan Tee Abdullah and Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman only shows his support for such racist groups and individuals.

Now, with BN losing more and more support with each passing day, Najib is desperate for Chinese support in order to stay in power. Najib must show the other races that he is sincere through deeds and actions, not through mere words alone.

Still I would rather see a new government, even for a term or two, to let all political parties know that it is the people who decide and it is the politicians who must serve the people.

BN has been in power far too long. The country needs a change.

Anonymous_3e86: Najib can say all he wants but the fact is that his Umno people don't give two hoots about what he thinks or say. Worst of all, he can't even put a gag on them. They say what they want, not what Najib wants.

VinceLim: I support the current government, but I can't ignore the fact that most Chinese voters are backing the opposition in every election. I think it is because the opposition has whipped up anti-government sentiments among the Chinese community.

I think it is time for the Chinese people to really see what the government has done for the community and not only listen to the opposition. We have a government that cares for all.

Samurai: It is insulting to suggest the Chinese are gullible fools for opposition lies. On the contrary, the Chinese, from the intellectual to the man selling vegetables, have no illusions about BN and Umno. We don't neeed the opposition to tell us anything, we have seen and felt MCA and BN's betrayal for ourselves for decades.

P Dev Anand Pillai: One doesn't condemn a race from all angles for the past couple of decades and then unashamedly ask for their votes.

It has to be shown by the actions and implementation of policies right from cabinet to the front desks of government departments.

The voters have wised up because there seems to be no leader who can be trusted.

Ferdtan: Good for Najib to use Mahathir’s mistake with Chinese votes as a lesson to be learned by Umno.

It looks like Najib could have now made, deliberately or otherwise, the old man seething for reminding him of his past failure. We thought (or at least to Mahathir’s supporters) he can do no wrong. Was that to put Mahathir in his place before the fireworks start?

If this is the case, then it is impressive; never before had both Najib and previous premier Abdullah Ahmad Badawi dared to voice out criticism, no matter how subtle, against Mahathir.

Rayte: Najib has been flip-flopping and remain silent as others fan the racial flames. Extremist parties flourish in the last two years, and he made it worse by blaming the Chinese for losing the majority votes in the last GE.

The whole Umno assembly blamed the non-Malays for the party’s failures. Why should we believe him now?
