Is it the end of the road for Zahid and Shafee?

YOURSAY ‘Zahid's indiscreet action could well be albatross that hangs tightly around PM's neck.’

Tracking the kingpin - from Macau to Vegas

Angry Citizen: Every one of these fellas - from Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak down - has skeletons in their cupboards, so they will not be able to bring anyone down, but they can jockey for the inside rails as best as they can depending on the size and number of skeletons each has.

The country is the last thing on their mind; it is their place on the gravy train that they are bothered about. So, what may happen is that Ahmad Zahid Hamidi the home minister may at worst be pushed to the outside rails, since he knows and the police know whose skeletons are in the PM's cupboard.

And let’s not forget Umno lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah who has been the one involved in all the shenanigans - and to think they were touting him as the next attorney-general?

Anonymous 645689 : On the front side, Umno politicians use Islam to portray their pretentious good and religious character to the rural people, or people in general. But behind the scenes, who knows?

So in Malaysia, the religion has become a political tool to rule and to stay in power. This is the ground rule used by Umno to rule this country.

Rural people are so naive, when will they wake up to put this BN government out of power?

Bystander : All I can say is that these shenanigans are bringing much unwanted disrepute to the country, that today, can ill afford.

With so many scandals, unexplained and controversial air disasters one after another within a year, the shaky financial standings, massive flooding, the drastic drop in oil prices, unceremonious 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) stories, the shrinking ringgit against almost all global currencies, etc. do you think our foreign direct investment (FDI) will grow?

Can we still blame it all on Pakatan Rakyat?

Malaysia Ku : We thought that the Umno government has already sunk to a low with their local endemic shenanigans. Now, they have sunk to a new low with the inspector-general of police, attorney-general, home minister, and the silent PM whose continuous silence raises suspicions on his part in this infamous episode involving an alleged triad kingpin.

How much lower can they go? In any other country, a snap election would have been called and those involved incarcerated.

Fair Play : The fact that the FBI had released a 53-page reply and a 295-page exhibit only demonstrates that they want a conviction, and nothing less than that would do.

Zahid's indiscreet action by issuing the 'support' letter could well be the albatross that hangs tightly around the PM's neck. Now, let’s see how the 'no action' PM will act.

Rupert16 : The home minister has boasted before that he is foremost, a defender of his race and religion. Now, the truth is out that the home minister is also a defender of suspected gangsters charged with big-time gambling syndicates, which is very haram (forbidden) in his religion.

So to the home minister, I say if you have any iota of dignity, please resign immediately.

Anonymous #19098644 : It would seem as if these suspected crooks have the highest levels of politicians and ministers in their pockets for the minister to issue him a letter of support of such magnitude. The sovereignty of our country is at stake.

This is nothing short of treason and betrayal of the people of Malaysia. Not only must Zahid resign, he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Odysseus : Zahid is really testing Najib's leadership in steering the country on a clean path. It's clear that Zahid is in the wrong here. He has tarnished the country's image, while Najib is still maintaining his elegant silence.

He can drop Zahid from the cabinet and it will still not have any implication to the ongoing case.

Zahid clearly betrayed the Malaysian police, which had diligently tracked the alleged criminal activities of Paul Phua. My sympathies are with the honest police officers in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) who worked hard to gather information on Phua, only to be betrayed.

Zahid is what people call a ‘pengkhianat agama, bangsa dan negara’ (traitor to the religion, race and country).

The Reaper : Honestly, for a small population, Malaysians sure have world-class talents within - whether they are in legal or illegal professions, achieving notoriety or fame through stupid or brilliant statements and acts... just name it, we have it. This is Malaysia boleh! I am proud to be Malaysian.

CQ Muar : What a perfect script for a top blockbuster movie! The end of the road is looming ahead for Zahid and Shafee, resulting in doomsday for the present regime.

Thus, the curtain will soon be coming down to eclipse all the evils wrought by all those in the government after more than five decades in power. The game will soon be over. God is great.

This episode involving suspected kingpin Phua - which may eventually lead to his arrest and imprisonment, along with those cohorts and associates - comes as a blessing in disguise for the people of this beloved country. Cheers to 2015!
