Activist Lawrence Jeyaraj today became the second person to be remanded for sedition over online comments about Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim's Sodomy II verdict.

Lawrence is remanded under Section 4(1)(c) of the Sedition Act until tomorrow, his lawyer Michelle Yesudas (below) said.

“It was for comments made on Facebook on the judiciary regarding the Anwar Ibrahim case,” she said when contacted.

The Independent Cartoonist Group (KKI) member was arrested at his home in Taman Cuepacs, Cheras, and taken to the Dang Wangi lock-up yesterday.

Cartoonist Zunar was released after three days' remand on Feb 14 for a tweet on the verdict, while PSM secretary-general S Arutchelvan was arrested on Feb 19 for a press statement he issued on the same issue.

Arutchelvan was released yesterday after police failed to secure a remand order.

Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar also ordered investigations on PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli and DAP's Perak chief Nga Kor Ming over separate tweets on the verdict on Feb 10.

Anwar is serving a five-year jail sentence after the Federal Court found him guilty of sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan in 2008.
