Selangor exco member and PKR Youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has been remanded for three days to assist investigations on the Kita Lawan rally last Saturday.

Nik Nazmi was one of the organisers of the rally, which drew some 10,000 protesters to downtown Kuala Lumpur in a show of solidarity with jailed Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim

Lawyer Eric Paulsen said he was in good spirit.

"Nik is in good spirit. He urges to continue the struggle," Paulsen tweeted.

"I told the investigating officer that if he wanted to take Nik Nazmi's statement, there was still time to do so... but he said these were his orders (to detain Nik Nazmi),” his lawyer Melissa Sasidaran said.

 

Nik Nazmi is detained at the Jinjang police station lock-up, under the Peaceful Assembly Act and Section 143 of the Penal Code.

 

Another PKR youth leader, Saifullah Zulkifli, was also arrested in relation to the protest.
