Najib, Dr M side-by-side as blog goes back online
Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s blog is accessible again today after raising suspicions of a cyber attack over his latest scathing posting against 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s blog is accessible again today after raising suspicions of a cyber attack over his latest scathing posting against 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
Judging by the comments on the posting, the blog Chedet.cc became accessible again in the wee hours of Sunday.
This comes as Mahathir and 1MDB board of advisors chairperson and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak share the stage at Dataran Merdeka for finale of Le Tour de Langkawi in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.
In photographs uploaded by BN-linked Facebook page 'Friends of BN', the somewhat expressionless Mahathir and Najib are seen sitting next to each other on stage.
"Both are looking awkward. Najib is thinking of what to say, but if he starts talking the old man will talk about the goods and services tax. What a headache," one Facebook user commented.
Another user said both are looking "unamused".
"That’s normal, maybe they haven’t had lunch," another said by way of explanation.
Another photograph by New Straits Times Online showed Mahathir and Najib putting on the yellow jersey on overall winner, Algerian Youcef Reguigui, while Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin smiles in the background.
According to Oriental Daily , Najib and Mahathir did not speak during the event, except when the premier invited Mahathir to join a meal.
Rafizi's blog still down
Earlier, Sabah Speaker Salleh Said Keruak warned of Mahathir’s hidden agenda of unseating Najib through his writings on 1MDB.
In the posting , Mahathir questioned how Najib’s Hollywood producer stepson Riza Aziz could afford his fancy residence and how Riza’s production house Red Granite funded the Oscar-nominated ‘Wolf of Wall Street’.
Initially, Riza’s money is said to be from inheritance of (former prime minister) Abdul Razak Hussein’s family. Then it was denied. The question is, if it is not from Razak’s family, then where did so much money come from?” said Mahathir in the posting yesterday
“Is it from business? If yes, what kind of business and where? Was income tax collected? By which government?”
Najib recently took legal action against PAS mouthpiece Harakah Daily for an article linking Riza ( extreme left in picture below) to 1MDB. He said this was to protect his family.
Sources in the know told KiniBiz that Mahathir’s blog was suspended temporarily to prevent a server crash because there was unusually high traffic.
However, the source could not confirm if it was a distributed denial of service (DDOS) attack.
A DDOS attack is when a network is overwhelmed by relentless requests to its server in huge volumes.
After Mahathir’s blog, PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli’s blog www.RafiziRamli.com was also inaccessible.
Rafizi said checks showed that the hits on his website were not unusually high yesterday and that he did not post anything on his blog that day.
It is still inaccessible at 9pm Sunday.
The vocal 1MDB critic suspects foul play but is still checking with server providers.
