DAP will decide on its future in Pakatan Rakyat if the PAS moved bill on hudud is passed passed by the  Kelantan state assembly.

In a strongly-worded statement moments after the hudud bill was tabled in the state assembly, DAP national organising chairperson Anthony Loke called Kelantan PAS a “backstabber” and called the action "provocation" to break up Pakatan.

"The top DAP leadership will hold a central executive committee meeting in Kuala Lumpur on Monday, March 23, to discuss DAP's direction in Pakatan after being stabbed in the back by Kelantan PAS today," Loke, who is also the MP for Seremban.

He said the tabling of hudud bill contravened the Pakatan Rakyat leadership council meeting on March 12, which had asked PAS to put the bill on hold.

He maintained that hudud goes against the Federal Constitution and is inapplicable to multi-racial Malaysia.

"DAP is committed to see Pakatan succeed as an alternative government to the corrupt and wasteful BN.

"However, we are aware of certain quarters in PAS who are more keen in giving Umno a lifeline to rescue itself from the various corruption scandals plaguing it.

"Pakatan will not succeed in toppling BN as long as there are enemies within that go against (the Pakatan) consensus and play to Umno's tunes," Loke added.

The PAS-led Kelantan government is pushing for the approval of the bill, which outlines amendments to the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code (II) Enactment 1993 and will be the basis for implementing hudud, the Islamic penal system, in the state.

However, even if the bill is passed, PAS must still overcome another hurdle at the federal level for the implementation of the seventh century law - it must get legal amendments endorsed by Parliament if hudud is to be implemented in Kelantan.
