PKR has reached a unanimous decision on the hudud bill but party leaders were tight-lipped on what exactly they have decided.

“We are working together very well, InsyaAllah,” PKR vice-president Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin told reporters when asked how the decision would affect the party’s ties with PAS.

“InsyaAllah we will defend Pakatan (Rakyat),” he added.

The Bukit Katil MP was met after the party’s leadership council meeting on the hudud bill at the party headquarters tonight.

Shamsul ( right ) said the party will be issuing an official statement tomorrow.

Party leaders, including president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, vice-president N Surendran, and director of strategy Sim Tze Tzin, had deliberated on the matter for two hours before reaching a conclusion at 11pm.

“The tone (of the meeting) was good, we discussed in a very family-oriented (manner),” Shamsul said.

Their partner in Pakatan, DAP, will hold a similar meeting next week.

The passing of the Syariah Criminal Code (II) (1993) 2015 Enactment in Kelantan has severely strained ties between PAS and DAP.

Meanwhile, Shamsul said the party was still looking into the case of PKR’s Guchil assemblyperson Mohamad Roslan Puteh, who was said to be present and voted in favour of the hudud bill when it was debated at the Kelantan assembly.

“We are still getting the full and complete report on this. It is very premature for us to make a decision on this,” he said, adding that Mohamad Roslan is still a PKR member.
