All state and federal DAP lawmakers in Perak will put their March salaries into a welfare fund for the 13 PAS supporters recently jailed for 10 months each for protesting the appointment of a new Perak menteri besar in 2009.

Perak DAP chairperson Nga Kor Ming ( left ) announced the docked salaries came up to RM18,000, which was passed to PAS parliamentary whip Mahfuz Omar, to help the families of the 13, who had called themselves ‘OKZ13’.

 

DAP would also provide legal aid and other forms of assistance to the 13, who were also fined RM5,000 each in addition to imprisonment.

Nga ( left ) also called on the government to return jurisdiction over the Road Transport Department (RTD) and the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) to the Transport Ministry.

"At the moment, the transport minister is like in a decorative post, without any portfolio. He only oversees shipyards and airports," Nga said.

He said that he would, in the current session of Parliament, push for jurisdiction over RTD and SPAD to be returned to the ministry.
