Online portal Malaysiakini is delighted to launch our education arm, Campuskini .

Campuskini seeks to transform Malaysiakini 's new headquarters @Kini into a hub for learning. Campuskini will host a wide range of courses, from corporate training programmes and workshops to more casual courses aimed at both the youth and lifelong learners.

Classes will be held @Kini, in a variety of spaces within the premises ideally suited for teaching purposes.

Members of the public will not only be able to peruse and sign up for any of the courses at Campuskini, but are also free to propose courses of their own in nearly any subject or field.

If the courses are appropriate, Malaysiakini and the instructors will run the courses together and split the revenue.

Two major courses which will spearhead the first phase of Campuskini are ‘ Google Analytics : Best Practices & Practical Applications’, and ‘ Facing the Media : Navigating Crisis Communications & Public Relations’.

The first course will be led by Chu Tzu Ming, who was was most recently Partner and CEO of a regional based venture capital firm, where he invested, restructured and took public many high growth companies, including one of Asia’s leading online advertising networks on the London Stock Exchange.

Chu has consulted with leading management and technology consulting firms AT Kearney and Deloitte Consulting, where he was involved in oracle applications and databases. His clients included the largest multinational companies in the world in the mobile and media sectors, including Axiata and Hewlett Packard.

The second course will be facilitated by media relations expert and trainer M Krishnamoorthy, who has taught news and feature writing at Monash, Murdoch, HELP, IACT and Utar.

Krishnamoorthy has also lectured on media relations, crisis management and communications at learning skills seminars at The Star and has made presentations on media relations at conferences, seminars and workshops in Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and the United States.

In addition to this, he also trains top management in the private sector, directors-general and secretaries-generals in the Malaysian government, and Malaysian ambassadors on how to handle the media.

Campuskini hopes to be the first of many initiatives by Malaysiakini to diversify its activities in its continuous search of productive ways to serve the community and better Malaysia.
