Umno vice president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has stressed that there will not be videos of personal attacks against Permatang Pauh by-election candidates, at least from Barisan Nasional side.

Challenging the other candidates to distribute such videos, he however said that police reports lodged against the videos will be investigated immediately and action will be taken.

"Let's campaign as decently and democratically as possible," he said, after launching the Puteri Umno election machinery at Umno's Wisma Transformasi, Permatang Pauh.

Zahid's caution today may be in response to PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli who expressed hope that Umno’s "shocker" for the Permatang Pauh by-election was not another sex video .

The Home Minister last week had announced that there will be a " shocking surprise " which would change the political landscape of Permatang Pauh.

Meanwhile, he also denied that PKR was the underdog in the by-election.

"Every time there is an election, they say they are the underdogs. What underdog? They are the state government; we are the underdogs.

"We were the ones who lost by over 11,000 votes so we should be the ones to get sympathy from Permatang Pauh voters," he said.

The Permatang Pauh by-election sees PKR's Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Umno's Suhaimi Sabudin, independent candidate Salleh Isahak, and Parti Rakyat Malaysia's Azman Shah Othman in a four-cornered fight.

Polling day for the by-election is set on May 7.

No 'backstabbing' in BN camp

Meanwhile, Zahid, earlier in the afternoon, at the Umno Youth election machinery launch, had stressed on the importance of unity.

"Do not cucuk belakang kawan (backstab our friends). Kita tak main belakang, ok (We do not play from behind, ok)?" he said, in an obvious dig against PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim who is imprisoned for five years for sodomy.

"Do not create slander, do not create all sorts of stories on Facebook ," he said.

Zahid's advise comes after the apparent 'split' among Umno members currently, which became more prominent after former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad started to openly criticise current Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak over his brainchild 1Malaysia Development Bhd, as well as other issues.
