Warning for Azizah - PAS members won't vote
PAS members will not come out to vote or cast spoilt votes in the Permatang Pauh by-election, said a branch leader.
PAS members will not come out to vote or cast spoilt votes in the Permatang Pauh by-election, said a branch leader.
Bagan PAS information chief Azmi Jaafar ( right ) blamed PKR's "rudeness" for this decision.
"Why support someone who does not back hudud?
"(PKR) always campaigns about GST. We don't want to talk about GST alone, but also state your stand clearly about supporting hudud," he told reporters at the sidelines of a protest.
The protest demanded that PKR Youth apologises to PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang for alleging that the latter is conspiring with Umno over the hudud issue.
Quizzed if the PAS central and state leadership are aware of the protest, Azmi said the branch had posted its plans on Facebook .
"Even if they (the leadership) does not permit, we would still hold the protest," he added.
Azmi also warned PKR not to dismiss the impact of their protest since it has the potential to reduce votes for PKR candidate Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
"PAS voters number about 10,000 in Permatang Pauh; do not toy with us. This is a warning to Wan Azizah," he said.
Following PKR Youth's statement on Hadi, Penang PAS Youth also decided to boycott PKR in the by-election.
However, it later reversed its decision but continued to demand for an apology and retraction.
The parliament seat fell vacant following the conviction and incarceration of PKR de facto leader and Wan Azizah's husband, Anwar Ibrahim.
