Table-talk solution to end Najib-Mahathir feud

Justice: Former minister Rais Yatim is rather too late. Nasi sudah jadi bubur. Where were you all this time?

Malays who truly respect Islamic laws will never use Lembaga Tabung Haji’s money, definitely not in this manner.

Now even the kampung people have begun to talk, for it’s very wrong to use their little-by-little savings over many years to perform the haj when they are old.

Imanust Nais Yalam: "What is needed is a Malay approach not to smear a leader in public until his dignity is affected," said Rais.

This is exactly the Malay weakness that allowed Mahathir to destroy Malaysia to such a bad state today. Other races are also not blameless in this aspect.

However, I support Mahathir's effort to take out his trash before he buys the farm.

RCZ : What is this Malay approach, Indian approach and Chinese approach Rais is talking about?

If mismanagement and dishonest acts have been committed, for heaven’s sake isn't the correct approach to punish and remove the wrongdoers instead of covering it up and using rakyat’s monies to plug the holes caused by the theft and wrongdoings?

Clearwater: Strange, the Malay approach was not evident in the sodomy accusations against PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, but Rais did not voice any objections to the many public smears Anwar was subjected to.

Why does PM Najib Abdul Razak deserve the Malay approach but not Anwar?

Mosquitobrain: Rais, you've proposed to get Dr Mahathir Mohamad and PM Najib Abdul Razak to sit down and talk face-to-face the 'Melayu way' to settle their feuds.

We're talking about a PM accused of abusing his powers, having a high-flying and lavish-spending lifestyle and other misconducts.

Rais, bad habits die hard. If the PM and his cronies stay, the alleged abuse of power, massive plundering and corruption will continue. The rakyat’s suffering will not end.

Doc: I think both Najib and Mahathir have long passed the table-talk phase. Indeed, a punch-up between those two will be a better option.

Ksn: If this table-talk takes place, then Najib should hold similar table-talks with all those criticising him and his policies.

What is so different and special about this man, Mahathir? Mahathir is a has-been and who destroyed and divided this country and its citizens beyond repair, redemption, let alone the abuses, which are too many to list.

Just ignore him, Najib, but start doing positive things for the benefit of all Malaysians. Dismantle all the abuses by the other man during the time you are left with, which is short - you only have until the next general election.

Are you up to it? Are you man enough?

Kamalappans: Hey, this is not Mahathir's or Najib's money. This is the rakyat’s money. If you’re having a table-talk, the rakyat also want to sit at the table, okay?

Onyourtoes: Our top leaders cannot be criticised openly. The number one and number two in the party cannot be challenged in party elections.

Rais, do you know these are the genesis of our national problem. What culture and national ethos are you promoting really?

In a democracy, it is the citizens' right to criticise and castrate their leaders openly if they have done wrong or are unable to account for their actions. Only in feudal and Third World tribal kingdoms are leaders sacrosanct and beyond open rebuke.

SultanMydin: So it’s the Malay approach not to smear leaders in public, but it’s okay if they ‘tikam belakang’.

Siti_Izza: We wonder why Mahathir criticised Najib so badly, whereas Mahathir always advised Umno that criticisms should not be extreme as it could affect the country and the party's leadership. Cakap tak serupa bikin .

ChiakLui-Eh: What's all this nonsense? People want to know who has taken the RM42 billion and who gave the order to kill Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaariibuu. Everything else is a distraction.

Baiyuensheng: Rais should have made this suggestion long ago, now all the bridges are burned and there is no turning back.

Either way, hopefully this will take down Umno-BN’s rule and bring in a true two-party system to Malaysia.

Vijay47: Table-talk usually takes place when 08 meets 24 (secret societies). In the case of Umno leaders, it is double-talk.

Apa Ini?: The ‘Malay way’ is to clap politely in public but to display a keris stylishly half-tucked into their sarong?

It's a question actually since we don't see too many sarongs today. Now where does one stick one’s keris in western suits?
