Guan Eng: Hadi's heart is in Umno
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's reluctance to support PKR President Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail shows his intention to be with Umno, said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's reluctance to support PKR President Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail shows his intention to be with Umno, said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
"Not only did Hadi not attend the Permatang Pauh by-election campaign, he didn't openly express support for Wan Azizah.
"This shows while he is physically still with Pakatan Rakyat, his heart is with Umno," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
He said this when asked to comment on Lim Kit Siang's warning yesterday that the opposition bloc might cease to exist in two weeks time.
Kit Siang did not explicitly mention why Pakatan would break up, but it is believed he was referring to the PAS party elections two weeks from now.
Guan Eng concurred that Pakatan's dissolution is possible, but said it might take longer than two weeks.
On whether this would affect Pakatan's hold of Selangor, Guan Eng said
there are two state assemblypersons from PAS who might decide to stick with the coalition. He was referring to Hulu Kelang assemblyperson Saari Sungib and Morib assemblyperson Hasnul Baharuddin, who stood by PKR and DAP's decision to nominate Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as menteri besar last year.
Presently, PKR and DAP have 28 seats in the 56 seat Selangor state legislative assembly. Without PAS, Selangor will have a hung assembly .
This means they can only form a government if they have the backing of at least one more state assemblyperson.
