DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said he should be encouraged to 'attack' PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang more as it would help Abdul Hadi and his faction to win the party elections next week.

"I speak of our party's principles and positions. So, if what I say benefits Hadi, then I am sure he would encourage me to speak," Lim said when met at the Parliament lobby.

"And I will continue to speak for the people whenever necessary. What DAP does and says will not affect Hadi's chances of winning anyway," he said.

 

PAS' Pasir Mas MP Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz had claimed that DAP's continuous attacks had caused a backlash and angered the grassroots.

This has indirectly helped Abdul Hadi and his ulama faction in their campaign against the liberal faction, he said.

Nik Abduh ( photo ) has advised DAP to cease the attacks.

To this, the Penang chief minister replied: "It is not up to PAS to tell me what to do, it's for DAP to tell me what to do."

 

On March 24, DAP had issued an official announcement it would cut ties with Hadi, citing its inability to work with someone 'dishonest'.

 

The last straw was Hadi's submission of a private member’s bill to Parliament to push for the implementation of hudud in Kelantan, without consensus from PKR and DAP.
