New NGO threatens to sue Dr M for RM100b losses
Ferdtan:
Now it is tit-for-tat - attack me and I shall attack you. Of course, it will be done through proxy. Citizens for Accountable Governance Malaysia (CAGM) qualifies as that.
They may look harmless, a comedy to most; but if with the solid support from the administration and the enforcement institutions, they can be a force to reckon with.
More sensational secrets will be coming out, this time it shall be on Mahathir. Even after he had retired more than a decade ago, the confidential files are still around in the archive.
After over 20 years as a premier, you can be certain that Mahathir must have many damning dossiers lying around that may incriminate him.
To Najib’s camp, if such a move can silence him, that is considered a success. Job well done. However, we hope we can hit the jackpot - get two instead of one.
Not only Najib but Mahathir too, though belated, should be punished for their wrongdoings.
Odin Tajué: CAGM’s chairperson Mohd Zainal Abidin, should you be reading the comments of my fellow readers in Malaysiakini , you will find that many of them are actually far brighter than one would suppose you assume them (or to be read as the people out here) to be.
Your timing and the target of your intended lawsuit negate whatever credibility you might have. Who is to know that you won't stop after getting a shot at Mahathir?
We suspect that you will stop at him, that you are merely trying to draw attention away from Najib and the scandalous pilfering of Malaysian taxpayers' money through the dubious dealings by certain parties in and connected to 1MDB.
2Kali5: If CAGM is really serious, please go for the low-hanging fruits first. You don't want to bolt the gate after the cows are gone.
It sounds like the sleeping beauty has just awoken and want to go after events that has come to passed over a decade ago.
Matmaniamahkow: It’s not surprising to see this new development among the elites in Malaysia. Money has never been that good. So the powerful will sponsor and create all kind of groups to protect themselves or attack their rivals.
The rot is deep. The country is sick. The ‘ketuanan’ leaders are plundering the country and they also have the institutions to support and protect them, too. How sad.
Np: The poor should wake up and see how their rich leaders live. They are not protecting the religion or race. They are only protecting their own right to steal from the country.
SultanMydin: Indeed, the rot in Umno-BN started with Dr M way back in 1981 and continued through to Pak Lah's (Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) time and now more glaringly with Najib.
Do we still want the scoundrels in Umno and BN which have ruled us for more than 50 years continue in government? Enough is enough. Malaysians should look seriously at giving Pakatan Rakyat a mandate to govern at the next general election.
Anonymous_1391693662: The situation in Malaysia is getting more interesting. Hopefully this NGO will get the culprits and later go after the inspector-general of police (IGP) and the rest of the Umno regime.
RCZ: Dr M should arrange for an NGO to sue Najib for RM42 billion and both suits should be jointly heard as their action and complaints are the same, that is, how the PMs under and chosen by Umno have ripped the country off for more than 50 years.
CQ Muar: All things being equal, if CAGM is what it represents, truly this will be a blessing and prayers answered against all the embezzlement, corruption, mismanagement and wrongdoings wrought by the former leaders of this country.
Malaysians generally have been on the receiving end over such rotten administrations and practices under the present regime. Rightfully, the time is nigh where justice must be restored in order to placate and pacify the have-nots.
TehTarik: Great. It is time that Mahathir is held accountable for the billions lost during his tenure through corruption.
According to Barry Wain in ‘Mahathir: Malaysian Maverick’, the losses incurred through corruption by Mahathir was equivalent to RM100 billion.
In Time magazine issue on March 15, 2004, Southeast Asian economist at Morgan Stanley in Singapore, Daniel Lian, figures “that the country may have lost as much as US$100 billion (RM320 billion) since the early 1980s to corruption.”
Mind you, this is only corruption and it does not include wastage.
Justine Gow: If a surgeon sees blood oozing out of a patient during surgery, what must she do? Would she look at an old wound on the patient and try to treat it or would she perform the more urgent task of stopping the bleeding?
If a crook is presently cheating you, wouldn't you stop him right now from taking away all your money instead of trying to catch the crooks who cheated you years ago?
Vijay47: In the true spirit of justice, sportsmanship and fair play, which Mahathir is renowned for, I am sure he will support and agree with the action being considered by CAGM, whoever it is backed by.
After all, what is sauce for the Najib gander is sauce for the Mahathir goose.
Vent: The plot has just thickened in this tragic comedy called 1MDB with the entrance of the Machiavellian Mahathir. Tickets must be selling very well far beyond the expectations of the main protagonist Najib.
Scores will soon be settled with a duel to death. The audience waits with bated breath.
Ahmet Al Tarabulshit: A citizen lawsuit of RM50 billion against Dr M? From where did you get this figure? Dei, just sue Umno.
But wait, you are Umno guys. So, go sue yourself.
