Will Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak come face-to-face with his mentor-turned-would-be-nemesis Dr Mahathir Mohamad?

On Tuesday, a law-based NGO called SukaGuam revealed that it is organising a two-hour dialogue session tomorrow for NGOs and civil society groups to grill Najib.

SukaGuam chairperson Khairul Anwar Rahmat had told reporters that the the Q&A session is themed 'Nothing to Hide' and Najib had confirmed his attendance.

Khairul ( photo ), who promised that participants could quiz Najib on all issues such as 1MDB and his personal wealth, said SukaGuam would also invite Mahathir.

"This is an open forum. If Mahathir comes, we will welcome him. I will invite him if he has yet to receive the invitation," he said.

When quizzed on this yesterday, Mahathir said: "I don’t know; I'm not invited."

No formal reply yet

However, an aide to the former premier told Malaysiakini today that there is a "high probability" Mahathir will attend the dialogue session.

Khairul however said SukaGuam has yet to receive a formal reply or request from Mahathir's side.

Mahathir has even agreed to have a public debate with Najib, but the latter has not responded preferring instead to counter the former premier's criticism through his blog.

Mahathir has repeatedly called on Najib to step down, warning that his presence at the helm would cause Umno and BN to be defeated in the next polls.

However, the prime minister, who described himself as a "warrior", has refused to bow down to the "demands of one man".
