Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali appeared evasive on whether he agrees with the PAS muktamar's decision to sever ties with DAP.

However he did say decisions made by the party congress are binding and final for all political parties, as the muktamar is for PAS.

"But the muktamar decision should be implemented in the context of Pakatan Rakyat. And it has been said in the policy speech of (PAS) president and decided in the muktamar," he told media after officiating "Hijrah Selangor" in Bestari Jaya at noon today.

The PKR deputy president however did not state his stance on the PAS muktamar's decision despite pressed by media.

Azmin did hint that the PAS final decision of severing ties with DAP did not lie with the Syura Council but the muktamar.

PAS Spiritual Leader Haron Din ( photo ), who heads the syura council, said no meeting has been conducted since the new leadership of syura council was named after first PAS central committee meeting last week.

Hence, no final decision has been made by the PAS highest authority to to terminate the ‘Tahaluf Siyasi’ (political alliance) with DAP that had been in place for the past seven years.

The recent concluded muktamar has passed the motion to sever ties with DAP without debate.

A rift over hudud had already developed between DAP and PAS over the implementation of hudud. This may spell the end of seven years  of cooperation between DAP and PAS, after Pakatan's unprecedented victory in 2008 general election.
